Safiya

Safiya is a professional actress who has been active in Los Angeles, performing in stage plays, musicals, and short films.
A true triple threat, she can sing, dance, and act with exceptional skill.

Highly professional and fluent in Japanese, Safiya’s career in Japan took off after she was selected in September 2021 as a studio cast member for NHK’s “Atsushi Onishi’s English Conversation: Standard Recipes”. This opportunity marked her successful transition into television.

She gained further attention for her role as Monica, an English teacher, in the NHK morning drama “Omusubi.”

Safiya also appears as Olivia in NHK’s “Feeling English” skits, and plays Saffy, a senior wizard who teaches English to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s character Carrie, in NHK’s children’s program “Eigode Asobo Meets the World.”

She graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Theatre (Acting) and is a versatile actress skilled in acting, singing, and dancing. Her experience spans short films, musicals, stage plays, and hosting as an MC in Los Angeles. Since moving to Japan in 2019, she has been expanding her career, including being cast as a regular on an NHK language program in 2021, and later appearing in radio, film, and television. She has also performed Shakespeare on stage in London and worked as an MC at Anime Expo, building an international portfolio as an actress, model, and presenter.

2011: Lived in Miyazaki prefecture for 6 months as a high school exchange student (speaks Japanese fluently)
2016: Studied Abroad in London, UK where she studied theatre, including Shakespeare and High Comedy
